THE BIG BANG THEORY:
 
MOST SCIENTISTS BELIEVE THAT THE UNIVERSE WAS BORN15 BILLION YEARS AGO IN A COLOSSAL EXPLOSION CALLED THE BIG BANG.  NO ONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED BUT IT ISTHOUGHT THAT THE UNIVERSE FORMED FROM A TINY, DENSE, INTENSELY HOT CENTER. 
 
THE YOUNG UNIVERSE BEGAN TO EXPAND RAPIDLY ANDWITHIN MINUTES, TINY PARTICLES OF MATTER FORMED.  OVER MILLIONS OF YEARS THIS MATTER BEGAN TOCLUSTER TOGETHER AND DEVELOP INTO THE FIRST GALAXIES.

The Cycle of Vital energy or Life force is shown inthe above figure.  The normal cycle fromFire to Earth, Earth to Air, Air to Water, Water to Wood and Wood to Fire, isknown as the Productive or Constructive (Creation) cycle – “ShengCycle”.
 
The Cycle represented by the Star, operates during imbalance of energyto any of the organs, and is known as Defensive (Control) or Destructivecycle – “Ko Cycle”.
 
Disease symptoms, changes in physiology and the healing process are allbased on these two cycles of life energy, and form the foundation ofAcupuncture Therapy.
 
The Organs inside the big circle are the Yin Organs.  Those outside are Yang Organs.  The small circle representing Fire organsconsists of SI and H on the left, which are Organs of Major Fire,and SJ and P on the right, the Minor Fire Organs. 
 
In the Sheng Cycle, represented by the Circle, each precedingorgan is the Mother to the succeeding organ. The succeeding organ is the Son with reference to the precedingorgan.  E.g.; LU  (Lung) is the Mother of K  (Kidney) and conversely, K is the Son of LU.  Similarly GB is the Mother of SI and at thesame time the Son of UB.  H (Heart) isthe Mother of SP (Spleen) and the Son of LIV (Liver).
